Setec Astronomy
Hi Dr. G, After some years using a caustic (pH 14) tire cleaner, this year I switched to OPC for cleaning tires. At first I thought it wasn't working as well as my previous cleaner, because there wasn't the instant browning when I sprayed it on, and when scrubbing, the suds were more gray/black, rather than brown with the caustic cleaner. To my surprise, on the same tires and using the same dressings, my tires don't get brown anymore as the dressing wears off. This was consistent across several brands of tires and a couple of different dressings on the vehicles I take care of. Is it possible the caustic cleaners cause more antiozonants to be drawn out of the tires than OPC does?
