LostVulpine
Just wanted to get some peoples thoughts/experience on this topic - I have a new to me 2017 Subaru XV (Crosstrek), it has plastic cladding around the wheel arches and the bottom edges of the vehicle. I currently use ONR followed by Opti Seal for my drying aid which I use on these plastics. I was wondering if there would be any benefit of using Opti-Bond on the plastics over just having Opti-Seal on them? Would it provide higher UV protection? Maybe prevent them from becoming brittle? Thanks.
Setec Astronomy
I don't know, if it was me I'd just use the Opti-Seal. Your other option would be to use OCW, which has some UV protection.
Ron@Optimum
Dr G recommends Protectant Plus for exterior (and interior) plastic and I've used it for years with great results.
Redgrandam
My car has similar trim. I didn’t find that OptiSeal worked the best, at least visually. I found that optimum car wax looked the best and works great. OCW helps keep it easier to clean at the next wash too as dirt doesn’t stick as much. A&J
Opti bond I found is a tire and trim protectant...It will darken the trim temporarily...it will fade after a while though just like all other trim protectants!
Ron@Optimum
Opti-Bond is fine as a trim treatment, but unlike Opti-Seal or Protectant Plus, it's greasy and a dust magnet.
LostVulpine
Thanks to you all for the replies, I must admit I hadn't even considered using Protectant Plus, something I will try next wash. I also have some OCW so will try that in a few places for comparison!
LostVulpine
So I tried Protectant Plus and OCW today on the plastic trim around my Subaru. I washed the car with ONR and Opti-Seal as my drying aid then applied both products in different places. I understand that the wax can migrate through the OS but would that be the same for Protectant Plus?
Ron@Optimum
don't know if it will "migrate" but at worst it adds a layer of protection.
