Doesn't polishing, as it removes material, shorten the lifespan of any coating, clear coat or otherwise?  

What kind of polishing exists that can remove contaminates __without__ removing the coating (clay?  a gentle formulation?).

I've seen a few references to  Opti-coat products, For example W-Wash.  What is the difference from the products on Optimum site vs Opti-coat products?  Both seem to have the same products with a few exceptions.  Why two sites?

The Opti-Coat line has 2 purposes - the products are formulated for superior performance on ceramic coatings and it provides private label products for Pro Installers (unlike Optimum products, Opti-Coat is available only directly from Optimum or authorized pro detailers).  While both Optimum and Opti-Coat products will work on all surfaces, Opti-Coat works better on ceramics.
