Concours Detailing Posted September 18, 2013 Share Posted September 18, 2013 It will protect the clear coat...that's its job Love Bug guts are acidic, so you don't want to leave them sit as they can etch the coating...be it OC or your factory clear coat. You can spray some diluted ONR on them before you wash to soften them up a bit. Some diluted OPC would also work, just don't leave it on the surface too long.
