Did my optimum freeze?

Recommended Posts

hey all, i recieved an order today that included optimum compound, polish, poli seal, poorboys ex, and natty's paste wax. I receieved it via overnight ups. my nattys wsa froze pretty good but i thought the rest of it seemed alright. now this was my first shot at using any optimum product so im not sure how they are supposed to behave.

so my first shot with it is on beat up chevy hd, red in color. i used the compund with a lc ccs orange pad at 1400 rpm and im not kidding it left worse swirls than ive had with 3m extra cut and a wool pad. plus i noticed as i buffed it seemed as the i was getting moisture on the paint, as in little drops of water. so i moved to the polish with a lc ccs white pad, which took out some of the compound swirls but not nearly what i expected, also had the same moisture problem with this. so now i try the poli seal via grey ccs pas at 1000 rpm and it seemed to finish out all right but also had some of the moisture.

now onto the question, does that sound normal for optimum products? i was really excited to try them but so far am kinda dissapointed. are there any tricks or tips for this stuff. would really appreciate any info. if it sounds like it froze than im gonna call autogeek and see what i can do. By the way im in michigan and our low this morning was like 5 below, and i dont know how long it was in the truck at that temperature. Thanks guys.

It DEFINITELY doesn't sound normal for any Optimum product. How well did you shake them? If one product in your shipment froze than I would be seriously cautious about all of the others. It doesn't take much "product" when using Optimum products, so be sure you weren't over applying product. I would first suspect the cold. The only of the products that even resemble a "watery" consistency is the Spray Wax. Everything else is "creamy" if you will. It should look white or beige somewhat like a skin creme would.

BTW what was the ambient temp when you were doing the work? That also has a significant effect.

BTW...Welcome to the board. Thanks for being here.

If the products did freeze then they may not work as designed.....I believe it has to do with the lubricating properties.....so contact david (I'll notify him of this post and your concern) by way of PM (his handle is "Doctor G") and he will replace the product.

Swirlnuts,

Thank you for sharing this problem with us. As Anthony and ehall suggested, it is very likely that the Optimum products you mentioned froze during shipment. All of these products are in emulsion form and the emulsion breaks once they freeze. After shaking these products, they should have a creamy consistency, as was also mentioned. Also the observation you made about moisture being left after using the products is not normal. There should only be a light oily residue left behind under normal conditions.

My suggestion is to first contact the distributor you placed your order with. They can replace your order right away and file a claim with UPS. If you do not get a satisfactory response from your supplier, let me know and we will replace your products for you. You can email me at davidg@optimumcarcare.com or just call (901) 363-4955 if I can be of any assistance. Thanks again.

thank you very much. i shook them for at least ten minutes each today but to no avail. still getting the moisture (actual little beads of water or so it appears). I will call autogeek tomorrow and hopefully figure something out. Thanks everyone for your help.
