Daniel St-Pierre
Got my RV detailed by a local shop, Optimum Gelcoat restorer was used on sun faded gelcoat. Unfortunately, shortly after it started to perl off on the strips. Seems like the product was apply on them. Any tips on how to fix this. Using paint thinner would damage the strips! Anny sugestions? Ron@Optimum
Gel Coat Restorer works on stripes and should not cause peeling. If the installer did not prep properly with concentrated Power Clean, it's possible the stripes were badly oxidized and GCR will not bond to oxidized surfaces. Setec Astronomy
Maybe I'm not understanding something, but aren't those stripes some sort of vinyl applique that's on top of the gelcoat? And therefore wouldn't absorb the gelcoat restorer, resulting in the problem? I mean the product page says you shouldn't even use it on "good" gelcoat, only faded, so to me that means it never should have been applied to a vinyl stripe. Ron@Optimum
but GCR can be applied to vinyl stripes and has been successfully - never saw results like that.
