JeffBM
I enjoy the podcasts and have some follow up questions im not sure where else to get the answers from :} Does anyone know if A: factory clear coat has better UV protection then a repaint? , B: If dark cars lose their UV protection faster then a light colored car? C: If the UV protection in the spray wax can migrate into vinyl? D: Can the UV protection in the spray wax migrate into Gloss coat? Thanks! Ron@Optimum
Will answer what I can - there is a wide variety of paints available and no way for OPT to evaluate UV in each. I don't believe there is any difference between dark and light paints in UV protection loss. The UV protection in spray wax will migrate into vinyl and Gloss-Coat. Setec Astronomy
The UV protection in spray wax will migrate into vinyl and Gloss-Coat. Huh? In a different thread you said this: I will check with DR G, but I suspect OCW does not improve the UV protection of Opti-Coat in any meaningful way. So does that mean that the OCW UV protection will migrate into Gloss Coat but not into Opti-Coat?
JeffBM
Thanks for the answers! OCW is really a valuable product with repeated use it seems. Plus smells great and produces great results!
Oldfordisbetter
In the earlier thread it was said that the OPT coatings have the best UV protection. The way I took it from the podcast, I understood that applying the Car Wax regularly would have the best UV protection... I guess my options are: 1. Listen to the podcast again 2. Call Dr. G and ask him for myself 3. Stop over thinking it and move on in life
Kiddetailer
The question is, will OCW benefit Optimum Gloss Coat in adding UV inhibitors (will it permeate into gloss coat)?
Ron@Optimum
Coatings are much better UV inhibitors than even Optimum Wax, so it's unlikely that OCW will improve Gloss-Coats protection
