Alucard
Hello, Got a new car done with opticoat pro+ in January and have been washing with ONR wash & wax. Happy with the looks. I am curious if there is such a thing (or need) to refresh the pro+ coating or if ONR is enough. Thanks in advance.
The Guz
Check out hyper seal as part of the coating maintenance line. http://opti-coat.net/opts/Opti-Coat maintenance/hyper-seal
A&J
The coating will pick up contamination over time that will reduce beading. That is when youll have to de-con & clay the paint. Opti seal, hyper seal or car wax will add protection and boost beading.
Alucard
Thank you Guz and A&J for the response.
Guest
Unlike Si02 based long term nano ceramic sealants, Opti-Coat Pro doesn’t require a topper or rejuvenator . You can use the above products , Opti-Coat Hyper Seal being the best, but they are not required. As required a decontamination is suggested when you feel the beading is lacking. This can be accomplished by claying, or chemically by washing with Optimum No Rinse(ONR) , then use FerreX, rinse, followed by Optimum Power Clean, Rinse, followed by MDR, rinse, and Optimum No Rinse(ONR) again. Alucard
I bought a bottle of hyper seal and will try to apply tomorrow if the weather is nice. It is best to wipe with a thin microfiber towel like "the pearl" or a more plush microfiber towel like the "eagle edgeless 600", both from Rag Company. I already own both types. A&J
You can use it as a drying aid and spread it with your drying towel or dry the car first and spray hyper seal on a foam applicator and apply it on the car like a tradional sealant (it should also look and perform better this way). Guest
As A&J said you can apply it as a stand alone sealant. The easiest and most efficient way is as a drying aid. As a drying aid you actually do not loose much in terms of longevity because of the Synergy of the Optimum and Opti-Coat lines. When using it over a coating, longevity isn’t really a concern, as your coating is providing that for you. Gloss-Coat like all our coatings doesn’t require a booster to maintain its effectiveness. Adding Opti-Coat Hyper Seal gives you added Gloss and slickness. It also adds a sacrificial layer for contamination to bond to. This way the contamination isn’t as strongly attached to the coating, allowing some of the contamination to be released from the surface as the sealant degrades. xrunuover
For the chemical decontamination, do you just spray on the and Optimum Power Clean let it do it's thing or should I agitate it?
Ron@Optimum
for normal decontamination, spray on and let dwell should be all that's necessary.
Lowejackson
One example of using Power Clean I don't have a pressure washer so just spray, agitate if necessary and rinse
