Annoyed by those who don’t believe in ONR

Recommended Posts

On other forums there are always those who downgrade ONR and rinseless technology in general. “It’s fine for lightly dusty,” they’ll say. “I guess if you don’t have any other options,” they say. When I say I’ve been using it for over a decade with less marring than two bucket, it’s  because I just have hard paint (though we’re talking about 7 cars including 4 notoriously soft Japanese paint jobs) or I’m a dunce who doesn’t know what marring is or my favorite, that I’m lying.  Does it ever bother any of y’all when folks dismiss you or your process for using ONR?

being the Tech Specialist I get many doubters (but also many new believers) - you can't argue with stupid.  I always point out how long Optimum has been in business and the many social media posts extolling the benefits of ONR.  I really don't engage with the cynics, just tell them to continue wasting 300 gallons of water until they go dry.

C'mon Zippy, we live in a world where everyone has their own facts, why should car washing be any different?

This.

And yet these are also the people who polish their cars every 6 - 12 months due to the wash induced marring from their far superior techniques . . .

Seems nobody wins!

and an amazing number of "enthusiasts" don't know difference between polishing and waxing!  I love the people calling to ask if Optimum products work or are any good, like I'm a neutral source.  I ask "what kinda response are you expecting"?

Well, that's because some "wax" companies call their sealants "polishes", you know, like "furniture polish".  Even that M company which started as a furniture polish company 100 years ago muddied the waters with some of their glazes in the old days.  Like anything, some people dip their toe in the water and think they are swimmers, and to be fair, there are people who may have been "polishing" their car for decades with stuff from the auto parts store, who really don't know the first thing about paint care, but think they do--but they are well-meaning, usually.

A lot of things are more complicated than most people would like to think they are...and in the old days people understood that.  But with the internet everybody is an expert on everything,   I'm sure I could find a YouTube video on washing your car with rocks...or if I can't, I could make one and get people to do it.  Not that there was ever any place to get real detailing info before the internet, so I'd say we came out ok on that one.

Diggin up this old thread to express my ever growing frustrations with the same people online lol. Consider this response a release of frustration at the lack of open mindedness, and most often pure ignorance of the world of online detailers. (Not to be confused with people who actually clean their car)

The cool thing about science, is whether you believe it or not, it remains true!

Thank you Stephen - I'm frequently asked how to use a rinseless in winter and this is an excellent explanation.

Love to help! The originator definitely deserves some internet points for the thorough explanation—and points to ONR for beating  Ech2o in cleaning power.

and we all know his process would have been even better with a big red sponge 😎

BRS or not, he makes a great point, particularly for heavy duty winter cleaning - keep your wash media dripping wet!  All that solution lubricates the removal of salt & sludge.  On the other hand, once had someone complain that ONR messed up his garage floor...can't please some people.

Lol...this is a funny thread because I can relate with all of you guys.

Ive sen lots of people bashing ONR without them even using once! Nowadays I just keep to myself and laugh at other people when they comment how good my car looks and I polished recently...but nope...All I did was just give it a ONR wash and opti seal treatment 😄
